    Question about RAM

    Hi

The company that I work for are trying to built a Revit workstation that will model large projects like hospitals and airports.

    We started with these spec's

    Intel i7 3770K CPU, 16GB Kingston RAM

    Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H LGA mainboard

    Samsung DVD burner,

    Power Color AX7850 graphics

300GB WD Veloci Raptor hard drive

Antec tower case with Thermaltake 700W power supply

    Windows 7 Pro, Logitech MK260 Wireless keyboard/mouse

Then upgraded the graphics to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680.

It was better but still lacking, so we're now going to get the 2.5GB NVIDIA Quadro 5000.

Now I read the "Model Performance Technical Note" by Autodesk.

It meantioned "The amount of local machine RAM required is approximately 20 times the size of your compacted central project file"

Does that mean just file you have open, in which case 12BG is more than plenty or does it include all the models that are linked to it as well. If that's the case then I need at least 80GB.

System RAM is more critical than Vid Card RAM if you are looking for "model performance" and not "rendering performance".
