F360 is Text/Graphics/Design Import Sorrow without end.

Well, I tried this OBJ import and as usual, it failed... F360 couln't even find the file... tried copying and pasted the name (zip)... tried with and without the (.obj) extension (sorrows).

I even moved the file on the desktop, where everything is.

This is VERY important for designers as you provde NO built in text/logo/.ai support. I can't type in text, nor bring in text as a DXF from illustrator 4 (it leaves out lines and letters & details... JUST LIKE IT DID IN 123D Beta last year (exact same problems)).

Look at this mess:

It doesen't even work once you bring it in as a DXF... can't extrude solids from those lines.

Engineers just don't GET that the FIRST THING clients invision, is something with a @#$%^& logo in it... BRANDING IS MORE IMORTANT THAN THE PRODUCT to these marketing/sales guys... please, work hard on an elegant VIABLE solution within this program.

Every SINGLE project on my desk needs a snappy Logo on it... the clients mention logos in ther first SENTENCE when discussing work... stop thinking like engineers for a second and note I can make a treaded cap easier than placing an extruded logo... and I don't get many calls for threaded holes. 😞

If I can't stuff a logo on the prototype... I'm DEAD. (and so are you)

Need I make more posts on this? I hope not... this is needed badly.

I don;t understand the obj issue.
Place the obj on your desktop. Don't zip it.
In the sculpt workspace in the model panel there is an import obj command.
Pick the obj on your disk.

The obj must be a quad mesh.
The obj should be a reasonable number of faces.

As to the request for text, we have heard you. We are working on it. We are trying to not be engineers so much.

We are tracking and updating the text idea here:

There are also some questions about priority that would be helpful if you weigh in on.

Hey Tom,

Sorry for your frustrations and thanks for the continued feedback. I was wondering if it would be possible to share the dxf file with us? What I'm hoping to do with the file is extrude the sketch figures as surfaces via the Patch > Create > Extrude feature. Add another surface to count as a "Bounding" surface.

Next, I'd like to see if I can use the Patch > Create > Boundary Fill

Then, it is possible to potentially have the imported dxf file work for you.

I hope this helps. Let us know if this may work for you!

Kind Regards,

In my defence...

never "Zipped" the file, Kevin... I mearly ment i could not get that method to work. Just explaining my various attempts 🙂

I think it MIGHT be how Adobe codes things seeing as I had trouble before... or a settings issue on my part... but here's the file.

It's interesting that it is dropping letters... and the fact one cannot see any thing filling what should be solid drawings is also quite odd.

DXF files bewilder me in general so... this TOO could be a factor. 🙂

Nathan!

Yes, what you have there is nearly my exact plan for the file (though with a nice draft angle for molding), once I get the darn thing to transfer (or understand what I'm doning wrong).

Text is SO important to clients... I how we can figure this out. 🙂
