Turning off background image but keep environement Lighting-SHowcase 2014

How do you turn off the background image yet keep the environment lighting in 2014?

I need a white background for some marketing images but cannot seem to get it to happen with most of the environments.

option 1: save image/render as tiff.. it will keep the alpha channel and therefore you can put a white background in photoshop.. ofc does not work with videos..

pro: fast

cons: you won't have white reflections in raytracing

option2:

-create an image 500x500 pixel totally white

-in showcase, right click on the environment, go to background tab.

-check the "use separate image for background"

-browse the white image

-change the background lightness/luminosity untill it gets actually white..

pro: actual white reflection in raytracing + it uses the glow effect if you activate the bloom in the camera properties

cons: no idea honestly

In environment settings you should be able to set the environment reflection map ( lightning tab) wile turn off background ( background tab)

Or this is not your case?

I'm not sure how to turn off Background image.

I originally assumed that unchecking the "Use separate image for background"
click box in Lighting Environment & Background Properties would do it but
the image still persists in the editing window afterwards, not the white
space I want.

Is there another way to turn off the background & Ground image yet have them
influence the lighting & object?

read my answer!
of course use separate image for background can be the proper way, but if you don't specify what the other image is, it will keep the one it's using! 🙂

If you want a white backgroud, why don't you use the WHITE ROOM environment?

It has reflections but no background ... better .... white background.

If you want you can change the hdr image used for the lightning, you can do it.

And if you don't want shadows on the ground you can disable shadows on ground in the Directional light and shadows panel.

watch the image attached as an example.
