Showcase 2014 importing problems

Hello everyone,

I am very new to Showcase so if it is a very basic, obvious thing excuse me for that.

1st: I`m using showcase 2014, it opens its default files like tricon or watch but when i try to open a file (belongs to 2013 version) it looks loaded in import status window (at first shows "loading 3D models" loading screen) but scene looks empty.

2nd: When i try to import another formats like stp or iges, it both looks failed in import status and also scene looks empty.

Please help 🙂

does this happen with every iges you try or a particular one?

with what program you generate iges files?

Are you running Windows 8.1? Showcase importer doesn't work on Windows 8.1 There is a new .dll file available from the autodesk website which needs to be placed in the inventorserver/bin folder.

if you are running Windows 8.1 jpvangastel said the truth..

you can find the "hotfix" in the autocad 2014 service and support page.

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=22443084&linkID=9240618

It is an autocad hotfix, but affect every autodesk sw that use inventor server engine, so showcase and 3d max can't import inventor objects.

In the readme you'll find the path for autocad. if you want to repair showcase import you must copy the dll in

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Showcase 2014\bin\Inventor Server\Bin\"

If you don't run windos 8.1... i don't know.

Maybe a model issue?

Every model fails?

You could check log files in windows temp folder (write %temp% in file explorer). Search for 4 files called showcase???.log.

maybe you can find the reason for the failure.

Hi Guys, good afternoon there.

I had no troubles importing Inventor 2016 files to Showcase 2017. But starting to use Inventor 2019 and can´t import files into Showcase 2017. Don´t wan´t to unistall or change anything that might work.

Any guesses???

Thanks.

Adolfo

Hi @sagaux,

The only thing you can try is to export your Inventor files as a STEP, IGES or SAT file and import them into Showcase. Inventor 2019 files will not be able to use because Showcase is end of live for Autodesk.

Hi Marco, good morning.
Thanks a lot for your answer! I could import it as object, also.
This is a great community!
Best regards.

You may need to place the .dll file available from the autodesk website in the inventorserver/bin folder.. The Showcase importer doesn't work on Windows 8.1

Thanks
