Showcase (2014) changes windows 7 theme to..basic

Hy..saw a discussion related to this subject and thought I could get rid of this .. "issue". I'd like to avoid this changing..

"You should be able to change this behaviour and stay in Aero by loading DisableThemeSwitch add-in."

how to get there?

The procedure should be this:

File/Add-in Manager/Add/select DisableThemeSwitch.py and click open/click close and restart showcase.

try it, I'm not sure if it works

honestly, it's fairly better to set your theme to basic always.. saves resoruces.. not much but it does..

Agree with cikho. With windows aero and transparencies disabled you save resources and showcase run faster.

For better performance i always set windows in performance mode, i disable firewall, antivirus and disconnect from the web.

This is my opinion, but when you have big models or big scenes to render, i need all the resources my pc can use.

Definitely better to leave the default options as they are for better performance. When you start playing around with the default options.. you run into all sorts of problems. There is a reason why Showcase does that by default and you should respect that.
