Any idea about the release date, minimum requirements and if it will be available as a free upgrade for Subscription Customers?

Yes the perpetual license is still flaoting... nothing has changed. the New Desktop licensing will not be floating.

There is a book called Smoke Essentials, but if you haven't already, you should head over to the Smoke Learning Channel on YouTube or iTunes. Grant Kay has done a comprehensive playlist of videos that are in nice digestible chunks. Pretty much everything you need to get started and then some is contained in these videos.

The point is taken.

However, there is no plan to bring Smoke to Windows in the short or medium term at this point.
