Possible to Import Alembic with Dynamic Topology in Flame Premium 2014?

Hi,

Is it possible to load Alembic files with Dynamic Topology (different number of polygons per frame) in Flame Premium 2014?

Thanks

I have a funny feeling that we don't support dynamic topology but please post an example here and I'll send it to the team.

I too would like to know if there is a workaround for this. I've tested it briefly, but wasn't able to get it to work. It only loads the first frame. I've attached the test cache I was playing with.

If this was just animation on vertices or the model, this would not be a problem.

However because the change in topology updates each frame, this is not supported.

However one option you can try is to export your model as an OBJ sequence.

So you'll get one file per frame and this should allow you to have different geometry per frame.

Its a long shot but I have seen it work in the past.

That's what we are using now (obj sequence) and this is not a solution, but a workaround sorry... 😛
