Paint in CFX

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to paint a matte (generate one with a black frame). I've been using the standard Paint tool since '96, so I can always do it before going into CFX, but there doesn't seem to be anyway to add paint into the CFX pipeline, and achieve what is basically a rotoscope. All the tutorials seem to be with the Paint Tool, not the Paint Node, and the user guide doesn't explain it at all.

Can this be done, or do I have to create it outside of CFX? Maybe there is a tutorial, and I just haven't found it.

Cheers, Mike

I kind of go over the Paint Node here...

You can Paint frame by frame.. it might work for Roto.. but it would have to be very precise.

Hi Mike,

Just feed in your black frame or image into the paint node.

Pressing F4 shows the result view. Press F4 again brings up the OutMatte.

Painting on the OutMatte view is like painting on the matte channel in the old paint module.

Hope this helps.

Got it. You don't get the traditional pink, but it works. Thanks, Grant.
