why not just contact the research team at microsoft and see what they have for you.

what you could do is the following (assuming it is not an "endless" scene):
- track the scene in 3D (not perfect necessarily)
- do a 1:1 projection on a card or maybe into a sphere, depending on the movement
- copy the camera and smooth its motion
- use this camera to "film" the projected scene.
the problem is depending on the initial camera movements and your new camera movement you need to zoom in a lot. And you need to do the tracking on the original footage (or not too extremly timewarped)
an idea for getting "more" picture information is using the projections to "paint" the inside of the sphere with the texture by using uv mapping. (that is kind of the basis with what Microsoft does. Well with much more science and knowledge and they are using pointclouds for reprjection and stuff 😉
If you have long and changing scenes it could work by breaking them down to parts and then adding them....
