I would like to modify the 16-bit Float EXR compression for my Framestore / Media Storage. What is the syntax? I would like to use 16 bit half with Zip16 (16 scanlines).
I am currently using "floatVideo=EXR:ZIPS:16" and several variations with no success.
TIA.

Hi
Can you please attach your stone+wire.cfg file?
I'd like to check that the parameter is in the right place in the file.
Also, have you tried the parameter without a quality factor?
i.e.
floatVideo=EXR:ZIPS
Regards,
Robert.
Attaching stone+wire.cfg
I did indeed try the parameter without the quality factor. Ironically I tried exactly what you suggested
floatVideo=EXR:ZIPS
Hi.
thanks for attaching the file. I found the storage definition section in it and the 16-bit floatVideo parameter seems to be set to RAW.
[Partition1] Name=FRAMESTORE_SMOKE Path=/Volumes/ioFXioDrive/ManagedFolder1 8BitIntVideo=JPG 10BitIntVideo=DPX 12BitIntVideo=DPX floatVideo=RAW JpegCompressionFactor=[0 #floatVideo=EXR
Is it that line that you've tried setting to EXR:ZIPS, or the hashed line at the end of this segment? Hashed lines are ignored.
Also, there's a syntax error in your file. There should be no square bracket in the JpegCompressionFactor line.
I've also asked one of the stone+wire developers for his opinion on this. I'll let you know what he has to say. In the meantime, please remove that square bracket in the Jpeg line and try to change the RAW to EXR:ZIPS and see if that does anything.
Regards,
Robert.
One more thing: open Smoke, click "Edit" on the start screen to edit your project settings and make sure the Preferred Format for Cache and Renders is set to "Legacy Configuration". That's the only case where Smoke actually takes into account the quality settings from the stone+wire.cfg file.
Regards,
Robert.
Hi Robert,
I manually commented out the
floatVideo=EXR
I manually commented out the line since I was unsuccessful at setting the compression flag. I set it back to RAW since EXRs weren't functioning as expected. I had EXR:ZIPS, that did not work. I got an error at startup. In the log, it references EXR:ZIPS as invalid.
I will remove the rouge bracket. I was wondering about that. The bracket shows up within the gui as the default compression value for JPG.
I will also set the Preferred Format to "Legacy Configuration"
Thank you!!!
Matt
