Anyone got tips for importing Photoshop docs?

Hi All

Trying to import photoshop doc but finding that the blend modes are not translating well. The import is genrally overbright, very burnt out, and quite a lot different to the photoshop output. I have tried to simplfy the PS doc as much as possible, such as applying layer masks, turning off smart fx and stuff like that.

Are there any other rules of thumb that could help Flame to read PS doc properly?

Many thanks

Grant

Hi Grant,

Firstly, the golden rule is to ensure that your Photoshop doc should only contain layers and blend modes.

All masks, paths, adjustment layers and blend FX must be backed into to the main layers.

The other thing you can check is the colour mode and bit-depth of the photoshop file.

Go for RGB and not CMYK and try see if going between 8 or 16 bit makes a difference.

It should not be more complicated than that.

If there still is a problem, contact me via message so i can get your file and take a look at it.

Regards
Grant

Also check to see if you're using as ICC profile in Photoshop or not. Sometimes agency supplies artwork with their own ICC profiles attached, or designers supply same. You can edit/work on the file without realising this until too late.

Also, there is a bug in 2013 AE with the Overlay blend mode I think.
