Revit file error

Hello, I uploaded a revit 2014 file and I get the error: Translation failed. What may cause this error?

Hi,

Apologies for the inconvenience. Can you please send the permalink of the revit file? You can get the permalink from Share - Permalink option. Or please do email me the file at swathi.vadlamani@autodesk.com or add me to the project where the file has been uploaded.,whichever is most convenient to you. We will make sure to see what has caused the error. Waiting to hear from you soon. Thanks!
Thanks,

Hi,

I talked to Swathi today an it sounds like your problem was resolved. We are still digging into it to see what the problem was. But please do post again if you have other issues with Revit files.

Thanks!

Hi,

We too have had similar issues on first upload but if you try again, generally it works.

Thanks for the info Duncan! We will look into the issue why the first upload preview is failing in most cases.
Thanks,

Getting the same issue.
I can upload the Revit file, but the preview never gets generated.

Today I deleted my previous file upload, and re-uploaded. The preview is still generating, but it doesn't look good that it will finish.

Hi Chad,

Can you please give me more information on the upload failure?  What OS are you using, and what size is your .rvt file?

Chad,
Also, have you verified that a simple test model works fine? I'd like to isolate the problem to the specific model you are testing.

Here is a screen capture of the error.

360_failed.png

Running on Windows 7.0 + SP1, Chrome browser Version 35.0.1916.153.

The size of the file is 23mb.

I will forward yourself and Kyle a PM of the permalink to the uploaded file.

I do have an even smaller model which did upload and translate.

My initial thoughts are that it looks really good! I have some comments which I will post to another thread.

@Chad I took a spin through that model and there's nothing obviously wrong with it. I've logged a bug with our translation team to trace the point of failure.

Thanks for posting up here, the variability in Revit models was always bound to result in translation failures we need to fix, so you've helped us find a new issue.

@Anonymous If you have a default 3D view (named "{3d}") in the Revit model already, can you post a screen grab of what it looks like?

Thanks, it wasn't clear that screen cap was from the default 3D and not another 3D view in the Model. Looks like you have a translation failure. Best bet is to share it with us via Autodesk 360 and we can investigate. Invite kyle dot bernhardt at autodesk dot com and we can go from there.

We can close the ticket - I found and corrected the issue.

the {3D} view was somehow croped to the roof- I had to detach the Revit model from Central and go back to this view that is only created on a detached file (stand alone). A-14.png
