What are we talking about dollarwise?

This is my question also. I believe there is a per license cost for the
initial FM Desktop software, but I don't know about an annual maintenance
fee. I've seen/heard "under $10,000. But again, what is the yearly
maintence fee? I currently use Aperture but have stopped all maintenance
fees due to them being over $4000 per year !!

I think the following are all of the components of FM Desktop. Not all are
necessary except for Facility Mgr and Facility Link ?????

Facility ManagerT is an MS Access application providing an Access, SQL, or
Oracle backend. Facility ManagerT provides you the ability to manage all of
your facility drawings and data in an easy to use database environment. No
special CAD skills required to work with drawings and data.

Facility LinkT connects objects in your AutoCAD facility drawings to records
in the Facility ManagerT database, providing a graphical interface to your
facility data.

Facility WebT provides you anytime anywhere access to your facility data and
drawings. An easy to use web interface brings powerful features to even the
most technically challenged.

Facility RequestT addresses a fundamental problem in a simple and elegant
way: people all over your organization need an easy, intuitive way to submit
work requests to maintenance managers and facility managers.

Thanks Pat. Looks like it might be a little cost prohibitive.

The minimum purchase of FMDesktop software is the Facility Manager module. The first license has a list price of $2,995 US and annual subscription (which includes all new releases as long as you are under subscription) is $550. Additional seats of Facility Manager are $995 and subscription is $175.

Facility Link is an AutoCAD plug-in to aid in polylining and publishing drawings and editing the FM data from within AutoCAD. Facility Link is $1,495 per seat with subscription at $275.

So, yes you can get started today for less then $5,000.

There's lots of information at www.fmdesktop.com and a list of qualified dealers at ttp://www.fmdesktop.com/partners.htm Any of those dealers should be able to answer your questions.

Just curious to see how successful you were moving from Aperture to FM Desktop?

I have finally purchased and loaded FMD last week. Have already finished
two color-coded Cost Center dwgs w/ legend inserted. Very easy to polyline
and apply space allocation hatches, etc. BUT!

1) I will need custom reports. The canned reports are not for me. I'll
need to learn how to layout reports in Access to accomplish this.

2) I have to manipulate the legend in Acad to make it look the way I want.
Thank goodness this can be done easily since the legend is static. I want
the SF numbers to have their own column. If I try to run the legend twice,
once w/ Description and one w/ just Area thinking I am gonna match them up,
won't work. The Area column comes in by ascending sorted which doesn't
match the Description by alpha sort.

3) The legend Areasonly comes in rounded to the nearest SF. No decimal
places.

4) Multiple cost center assignment hatching will not work if your drawing is
in a non-World UCS. Only shows up w/ 1 of the hatch assignments.

This is all the further I've gotten so far.
