Is there really such a thing as "The FM Systems Group" at Autodesk?

There has not been very much activity from this group at Autodesk. I don't
know what their mandate is other than to bring together solutions.

This group is also very quite. I thought there would have been more FM
people using Autodesk products, so I guess they are not aware of this
discussion group.

I read this post like:
- there are already "tools" of an (FM) nature available?
- are they at beta stage yet?
- Do you have a list of the "key requirements for Facilities Managers"
available for discussion?

There is nothing on the Autodesk web site regarding specific FM tools. I
think FM falls under the building services group so that they can extend the
life cycle approach by managing the data once the facilities have been
created.

I would like to know about any beta products. Hopefully someone from
Autodesk will fill us in about the strategy and I assume that more will be
revealed at AU.

If you check out www.autodesk.com/mapguide you'll find some examples of how
an Autodesk product (Autodesk MapGuide) that was originally created to meet
the needs and processes of the GIS industry has been used by many of our
customers for building management. Make sure you look at the "sample
applications". You'll also want to check out
http://mobile.autodesk.com/fm2002/.

Additionally, you may want to get some information about Autodesk
Architectural Desktop and how this design tool is used to create data-rich
building information models. With the new extensions (announced today)
customers are able to take the design graphics and the data-rich building
information into a MapGuide environment with one command "Publish to
MapGuide".
