well... I've decided to open myself up to some abuse, and post a message on
the CAD Standards forum on augi... 'Client Standards: How much is too much?'
;)
I'd love to see some FM-geared Standard standards, just to know I'm on the
right track... I've seen some from some other facilities (mainly
universities), which is where I gleaned most of my ideas. But, it's hard to
tell from those what type of person(s) their creator was.
Were they a project manager giving arbitrary standards? Were they a
full-time CAD person with a clear idea of what they needed? Were they
previously employed by a contractor with a clear idea of the project
workflow between companies?
It hadn't escaped my notice that the majority of FM-related articles and
training functions etc are in the UK. Evidently you guys care more about
sustainability than we do here in the US.

Hi, Melanie!
Here in the UK, there is a potential move to a standard by the British
Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) but there is not a huge degree of
takeup yet.
I think a lot of UK organisations build their own CAD standards in FM as you
have done.
I, personally, would like to see more FM CAD standardisation in the UK. It
would make my life as a consultant so much easier!!!! (LOL).
