Downloaded FBX from autodesk site and installed as per commands however when I check the plugin in Maya I get the following errors:
Error from Maya:

I have reviewed the following post:
FBX does not seem to be part of the original tar so downloaded direct from Autodesk.
I know the installer works as I moved the original file away:
-rwxrwxr-x 1 501 501 13623432 Sep 14 2012 fbxmaya.so
-rwxrwxr-x 1 501 501 13483257 Jun 18 2012 fbxmaya.so.OLD
Maya plugin path is set:
MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH=/mnt/vine/software/linux/yeti/Yeti-v1.2.14_Maya2013.5-linux64/plug-ins:/mnt/vine/software/linux/arnold/MtoA-0.24.0-linux-2013.5/plug-ins:/mnt/vine/software/linux/maya/maya2013.5-x64/bin/plug-ins
