The 3 videos below will show you how to use the provided search tools effectively. Each is around 2 minutes in length. If you do not see the videos (hosted on YouTube), you can select the following links. Basic Search (2.5MB) Sorting & Filtering (3.1MB) Advanced Search (3.5MB)
Boolean Search
This type of search is supported in the Autodesk Forums, here is how it works:
- You can use the following operators: AND, "+", OR, NOT and "-" (note ALL CAPS must be used)
- Note if you search for multiple words or a phrase you should use quotation marks around the words/phrase (for example, "dialogue box error")
- You can also use wildcards:
- ~ (proximity wildcard) So if you want the word "there" and "problem" but only if they are within 5 words of each other, that's "there problem" ~5 (in this case, you have to use the quotation marks in the search)
- ? (character wildcard)
- * (multiple character wildcard)
You can search on the internet for more detail using these search refinements, there are many resources for wildcards and boolean search.
