Hi all,

Im new to ecotect, was just wondering if there's any way that Ecotect can do daylight analysis on an interior when the building is surrounded by water?

My project now is surrounded by a river on a pier.

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi ej,

Sorry for the late reply...

Yes, it can be done. Simply create planes in Ecotect surrounding your building, modeling the area of water.  Assign these planes a material that would simulate water, which can be a bit tricky since water light reflectivity (albedo) varies quite a bit with the time of the day.

I would certainly use Radiance to run the simulation.  If the area of the space "sees" the water objects, then it should have an impact on your results.

I hope that helps!
