Sunshades and heating/cooling loads

Hello

I am having a problem in analyzing heating/cooling loads to compare a zone energy performance with and without sunshades. The 'Thermal Analysis' tab 'Monthly Loads/Discomforts' does not seem to show decrease in heating/cooling loads when the model has sunshades. I have traced this issue to an old Ecotect forum threads:

[http://ecotect.com/node/650] and [http://ecotect.com/node/1206], but I could not find an answer to why the sunshades are not affecting the heating/cooling loads. Is it still and issue with Ecotect not taking into consideration obstructing elements which affect the heating/cooling loads. Is there a workaround modeling strategy that you suggest. I was testing with a simple zone box shape with a window on the south and vertical sunshades.
