Volume axis field on flame thrower effect

I am fairly new to maya fluids, however I have gotten a good flame effect going. I am trying to get it to project with more energy, like a flame thrower. I added a volume axis field, but nothing seemed to change as far as the forward velocity (it is still a standard flame). I have played with most of the settings. I am sure I am missing some thing that will stand out when I am pointed at it. Can someone give me any advice as to what I may be doing wrong? I have attached the scene file.

Thanks in advance!

Hey,

Looking at you file, it looks like a great start.

One thing to explore is using an nparticle system as an emitter in the fluid. Basically you set up the particles so that they are emitting in the basic stream shape that you want and then select the particle system and using the emit from object in the Fluid Container. You can probably use the fluid setup that you have now.

Here are some links that talk about this technique.

And while I cannot find a specific example right now. I know that this technique can be easily used to get a flamethrower type effect.

Hope this helps,

JoSh
