streach beam equally in opposite directions

Hi,

 

Attached is a dwg file where im trying to get a woodern beam to strach equaly in oposite directions without changing the dimensions of the reccess in the middle, ofcause now im lost in my constrainsts and I need some advice on how to do this effectivly?

I haven't looked at your drawing but change the stretch parameter base point from endpoint to middle

Get rid of all the contraints and use a linear action parameter.  Set the base to middle and apply two stretch actions to it, one for each end of the beam.

I did look at your block, and I agree with HWalker, but you might also want to turn off one of the grips (unless you want to be able to stretch from either end).

(Not knowing what you want the ultimate behavior to be, I also wonder if you could probably do away with some constraints.)
