Why do dynamic blocks make file sizes HUGE?

When I thought they were meant to make them smaller.

Here is the example

I've got 5824 items in my drawing they represent four floors, but one floor is repeated twice, so it's 5599 items. Now I made a block with the floors in it and inserted it into my drawing five times and changed the visibility state to show which floor I wanted showing.

Without the block inserted the drawing size was 576kb.
With the block inserted 5 times the drawing size was 1.7Mb

WHY?

Right I've completed my drawing and with 5824 separate items for the floor plan it's only 604kb big.

I recreated the floor plan and took the 5824 separate items out, and only put one block in. The block consists of 5599 items, yet the file size is 1,213 kb

I agree, theory tells us blocks should reduce the
file database.

I'd only be guessing, but your block may contain
more that you think; reg apps, aec block definitions,
etc

Because each block insertion contains all elements of each visibility
state, they are just not shown.

Ah that sounds like a sensible answer. BUT even when I only had one block in there (look a couple of posts up) The file size was still twice as big as when it had no blocks in there.

This is probably it. Did you look into this?
