I hope this goes into the right group... I am looking into developing a CAD plugin which would make checking drawings easier and hopefully find some anomalies. I am currently dwelling into technical possibilities...
If you are a heavy CAD user, I would like to ask:
* What are your most common mistakes on drawings?
* Which mistakes are hardest to find?
I appreciate any feedback on the subject which would help me with this
Hardest to find:
1. Some spelling error which is a correct word but actually is a wrong one. Example: fro & for
2. Wrong scale dimension style is ued in the drawing.
Another user changing spelling to the British version while incorporating other changes, because another word on another drawing somewhere else in the project used British spelling.
Using X's or x's for stand-in values to be replaced later without using a HOLD cloud or other notation.
This is very helpful. Thanks!
I am not 100% sure, but I think wrong scale dimension can be found with running a check on standards. However I think it would not work if you have multiple dimension scales and there is a possibility of interchanging them.
I can totally relate with leaving the X-s
If anyone has any other comments, feel free to contribute!
My biggest beef with my coworkers are those who explode Intelligent objects like:
MText, MLeaders, Leaders, Dimensions, Tables, Hatch Patterns, Blocks. Plines, etc.
...oh you mean like some project architects I once knew (nudge nudge wink wink)...
I would have to say people who explode objects that should not be exploded, and people who do individual properties on the oddest blocks/lines instead of setting up a layer and keeping everything as "BY LAYER".
I dont even know how many drawings ive come across where the leaders are all 3 individual peices and everything but 1 line or block will screen properly and the others never change color!
just posted a problem looking for a solution .. I assume I had something to contribute to the problem I have posted ... so you might wish to read my problem ... hope it is of help
