Plot Scaling Problem - 22x34 to 11x17

Hi all, I am new to this forum, and I am having a problem that I just can't seem to put my finger on. It may be to my lack of understanding of AutoCad. I have C3D 2012, and I am trying to plot an 11x17 dwg from a 22x34 template. I have the plot scale set to 1:2, and the setup is fine, my only problem is that everything is scaled by 1/2 on my 11x17 sheet. Is there any way that i can make the the scale dynamically update while going back and fourth between plot scales from 1:2(11x17) and 1:1(22x34)? Is this a problem with the annotative scaling?
Any feedback would greatly appreciated!

You are reducing the 22x34 so it will fit on 11x17, of course everything will reduce in size, how could it not?

Didn't know if there was a way to scale everything dynamically by simply changing the plot scale. I assume there is not. I ended up just making two sets of layouts, one 11x17, and one 22x34.

YOu are talking apples and oranges.
Plotting does not have anything to do with scaling your actual drawing.
It plots to the scale you choose to plot.
If I get what you are asking to do, you should not have to rescale drawings (bad juju) to print to preferred size.
Use the plot previuos.
If you plan ahead. Set your plots to the preferred setting and in plot setting window(Page Setup), bottom center APPLY TO LAYOUT.
Hope this help.

Thanks for y'alls replies
What I want to be able to do exactly, is to take a 22x34 template and plot it to 11x17 and have the viewport and paperspace scale change accordingly between the two plot sizes. I don't think this is possible although, without maunally changing and making a reduced sized vp and template.
Any suggestions to automate this process?

Then make the Plot scale .5 or as Dean suggested 1:2
(change the marked Scale of your plan to reflect this from say 1/4"=1' to 1/8" =1')
Easiest would be to go ahead and create a 22 x 34 Layout and a 11 x 17 Layout and setup your viewports at 1 and .5 respectively.
Plot scale at 1:1 of course.![]()

Thanks for your feedback,
That is what I ended up doing with the set of plans that I was working on. I guess I was looking for the "easy button" approach to this issue ha.

Yup, I live on shortcuts and understand your pain.
For future references, check your CAD version about "RECORD" command. => to record commands and action value for an action macro.
I use them a lot on mass plotting jobs that inlcude simple drawing editing that uses the same series of commands.
Have fun!!
