I am trying to figure out if there is any standard or preferred way to put switches and receptacles on a drawing with type and group symbols.  I personally always make the facing the wall on the right side, but that makes them upside down in certain situations.  I would be interest in peoples comments by selecting a number for each wall on the standard they have or know about.

They should read from the bottom or right side of the drawing like any other text, dim, etc. in a drawing.  Don't put text upside down.

So for the top you would say #3, bottom #9, but what number would you pick for the right and left?

I would use 5 for left or right, and 4 if there were space constraints.

You need to use 9 for top and bottom, 8 if space constraints.
