runtime error in word2002

I have hyperlinks to DWF files created in Word 2002 docs. Problem is when the link is activated the DWF file opens OK but when I immediately click on a markup (browser area) the program crashes with this error in Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library "abnormal program termination" (referencing ADR2008.exe file location). Does anyone have experience with this? NOTE: opening the same DWF file using only ADR2008 runs fine - no problems, no crashes. I'm updated to SP1.

Just out of curiosity - does the problem also occur with the later version
of MS Word [2007 or 2003]?

I know the same problem has occurred in Word2003. Can't verify 2007

Hi ronniemac,

This sounds very much like a known issue we've been investigating for some time with hyperlinks to DWF files that are located on a network share [Defect ID = 786302].

Just to confirm, does the Word file contain simple hyperlinks to a DWF file that when clicked will open the file in the standalone Design Review application or is this a case where the DWF file is opened embedded within MS Word?

If you open the same DWF file in Standalone and click on the markup, does the same problem occur?

Thanks in advance for the additional information.

Hi Scott

The DWF file is not embedded in the Word doc. It is only a simple hyperlinked & when clicked does open ADR2008 as a separate standalone program. If I open the same DWF using only ADR2008 (no hyperlink) the problem does not occur.
