Manually installed VCRedist but still unable to deploy

I am trying to deploy Design Review 2011 using the msi package. I have installed Visual C++ Redistributable SP1 for both 2005 and 2008 manually. Still, the design review installer gives me an error stating that the 2008 package is _not_ installed and I can not continue.

I have attached screen shots of 1) The error, 2) Programs and Features showing that the redist. packages are installed.

My Setup:
Installed the VC Redistributable packages on the command line silently with: C:\> vcredist_x86.exe /s (silent mode/unattend)
Windows 7 x86 Professional -- No other 3rd party apps installed. (Clean install)

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

Please check the version of the VC++ Redistributable SP1, it should be x86 9.0.30729.4148. If not, please refer to http://download.autodesk.com/esd/designreview/2011/adr_install_guide.htm#InstallADRSilent to get the correct installer from Microsoft.

Please reply back if you have any further question.

guok,

That fixed it. I was using a later version of the vcredist.

Much appreciated, thanks!

Everything works for x86 but x64 is failing with the same error on vc 2005. I am using the vcredist packages from the Design Review full install exe. Edited by: tklopl on Apr 16, 2010 3:25 PM

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

Please note that Design Review always depends on the x86 version of the VC++ runtime, even if it is installed on x64 machine. So, please check whether the version of the VC++ 2005 runtime is correct. If not, please select the correct one from the Design Review full install exe, or refer to http://download.autodesk.com/esd/designreview/2011/adr_install_guide.htm#InstallADRSilent to get the correct installer from Microsoft.

Please reply back if you have any further question.

Ok, looks like it is working...

As a note, this is what I am doing for DR 2010:

start /b /wait vcredist_x86_05.exe /q
start /b /wait vcredist_x86_08.exe /q
start /b /wait vcredist_AMD64_05.exe /q
start /b /wait vcredist_AMD64_08.exe /q
start /b /wait msiexec /qb /i SetupDesignReview2010_en.msi

Thanks for the help. Edited by: tklopl on Apr 19, 2010 2:34 PM

The simplest and easiest way to get 2011 on my machine was to do this...

1.  Find the install msi for 2008, and run that.

2.  Install 2008, which will get everything back to normal.

3.  Uninstall 2008 with the same msi, it should work now.

4.  Install 2011, and there you go.
