How to embed a DWFx

Is there a way to embed a DWFx in a web page. Some thread on this site relates to this, but the answer is not clear.

I've tried to embed the same way I embed DWF. On XP, AutoDESK Review opens the DWFx in a correct manner. On Vista, with no plug-in installed, i got this message: "Path is not a dwf file". I can open the DWFx directly though (XPS).

Thanks

Hi Koobcat,

The way to embed a DWFx is the same as a DWF regardless of XP or Vista. (In the Help file you'll find the topic "Embed a DWF File in a Web Page".)

If Design Review isn't installed on the Vista machine, the HTML code will install the old viewer...to install, the machine to be connected to the Web, and it does take several minutes (for me it took 5 on a broadband connection) to install...and on Vista, you will likely be prompted to accept the installation so stay near your computer. Once installed, refresh your browser and you should be good to go.

Let us know how it went.

Best,

Chris

he wants to embed it such that if a user has
Autdoesk Design Review, that gets used. If the user does not have Autodesk
Design Review but has the built-in XPS viewer, as in Vista or IE 7, then that
gets used. Since the codebase tag only invokes our ActiveX Control, I do not
know how to satisfy this request.

Thanks Chris for your answer, but Scott is right: I want the built-in XPS viewer to display the file, since all my users won't have on will not want to install a plug-in.
It works fine with a link to a DWFx, but not with an embedded DWFx.

Hi Dominic,

Sorry for misunderstanding.

FWIW, I've added your request to our WishList database (ID: 1198141).

At least we can get the idea in front of Product Design.

Best,

Chris
