ADR / DWGTrueView / Vault 2010 / Fail

I had ADR 2012 and DWG TrueView 2011 installed in Win 7 Pro 64.  ADR 2012 would open DWGs without issue.  Let me state that again: ADR 2012 would open DWG files.

I then had a need to install Vault 2010 client only to have the install fail because a newer version of ADR was present.  I uninstalled both ADR 2012 and TrueView 2011.  This did allow the Vault client to install and it also installed ADR 2010 and TrueView 2010 and all three programs run without issue, except for one.  Trying to open a DWG file from within ADR 2010 results in this message:

W.T.F.

I tried to install the 32-bit version of TrueView, but NOT ALLOWED - even though ADR is 32-bit and did install?

I'm tempted to upgrade ADR 2010 from within the program, but will that break the Vault 2010 client in the process?

I suppose we could upgrade Vault clients and server to 2012 as we haven't implemented it yet, then install ADR and TrueView 2012, then slap on the patches to allow our 2010 IV and Acad to talk to the 2012 Vault, but before such a massive re-do, I'd like to know it (DWGs opening in ADR) will actually work this time!

Yes, yes; Readme, 64-bit, TrueView.  What I think is amazing is there is not at the very least, a 64-bit version of ADR available to avoid this silliness.  I am still surprised how squirrelly the interaction is between Autodesks' own programs.

PS: What justification is there from Adesk for not default installing DWGTrueView in ...\Program Files\Autodesk\ where it belongs?

Thank you for your question.

1. The 32bit DWG TrueView cannot be installed on the 64bit Operation System, please install the 64bit DWG TrueView on the 64bit Operation System.

2. In ADR 2010, it does not support to open DWG file directly on the 64bit Operation System, even if the 64bit DWG TrueView is already installed. So you can upgrade ADR 2010 to ADR 2012, yes, ADR 2012 can open DWG file directly with the 64bit DWG TrueView 2012 together.

3. When you install the Vault 2010 client, please uncheck the ADR 2010 to install on the installing configuration dialog, if you installed ADR 2012 already.

If you did not install ADR 2012 yet, you do not need to uncheck ADR 2010 on the Vault 2010 client installing configuration dialog. After finishing all installing, then you can upgrade ADR 2010 to ADR 2012.

Hope this can give you any of help.

When I did have ADR 2012 already installed during the Vualt 2010 install, the box to not install ADR 2010 was checked but greyed out, so I could only install Vault or nothing at all - and trying to install Vualt 2010 with ADR 2012 still installed resulted in the error.

Thanks for 64bit info, though.

Thank you for your information.

Please uninstall ADR 2012 firstly, the install the Vault client 2010 with ADR 2010 together. After that, you can upgrade the ADR 2010 singly to ADR 2012.

Indeed, I found that to work.
