zero-install viewer?

Does anyone know of a zero-install dwg viewer? Something that can run straight from a CD without installing anything. BTW- I know about freewheel, that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about a local (CD) dwg viewer that a user could launch from a disc that also contains dwg files.

Thanks,
Nick

Bummer, thanks. Trueview is too much like ACAD (OK, it's just a stripped ACAD) to expect jimbob-down-the-road to use it easily...
Solid works viewer (eDrawings Viewer) is very easy to use, but doesn't work very well and is really geared toward 3D. Is it too much to ask for a Autodesk NATIVE DWG viewer that is simple?

When you get a native DWG viewer, you get the baggage associated with DWG
that Jim-Bob does not understand. If only there was a way to make it easier
for Jim-Bob? What if we made a file format that was print ready and was
easier to use/ That would be DWF. I get that having two copies of the data
is a hassle for you, but tools that publish on demand help ease this burden.

Sarcasm noted...
If only there was a dwg viewer that was simple to use WITHOUT a new file format so that clients that request dwg close-out documents could have an easy to use viewer and I could supply them with the REQUESTED file format... if only...

I know about and appreciate DWF, but when a client requests DWG, that is what they get. I just want to be sure they can actually view these files (some clients are questionable) so I include a viewer installer on the CD and .

Seriously Scott. Have you even looked at Solid Works eDrawings viewer? It fits the bill pretty nicely, but because it is not a genuine autodesk dwg product it has some issues. I am pretty sure Adesk could come up with something just as simple and alot more compatible if they wanted.

Sounds like you are describing Autodesk Volo View

...which is still available BTW:

Too bad it only supports 2004 DWG format and older...

We tried this. I worked on this. It was called Volo View. Everyone hated it
because it didn't behave exactly like AutoCAD. Many of the idiosyncrasies of
AutoCAD are associated with DWG - not AutoCAD. Even look at DWG TrueView. I
have seen postings here complaining that it does not honor DIESEL strings.
There are so many people that use DWG in so many ways that as soon as you do
something to "simplify" things, someone notices that they can't do what they
want or the software does the wrong thing on their behalf. If you want a
viewer to be a true DWG viewer, you need one based on AutoCAD. AutoCAD is
very powerful; however, with power comes a certain amount of responsibility
to master a moderate amount of complexity.
