VVE does not display controls or tools in IE 5.5?

I have a used Volo View Express 2 to save a DWF and have placed the file on
an IIS 5 web server. I have used the example from online help to modify the
parameters for the ActiveX control. I set the UserMode value to ZOOM.
While I have not made any MIME changes to my IIS 5 web server, the DWF
properly appears with the Zoom tool on the live web page.

However, when I zoom beyond the boundaries of the height/width parameters,
VoloView.exe crashes that session of IE 5.5. Is this a bug and are there
workarounds? Also, would modifying the MIME make any difference?

Finally, I had expected there to be some minimal controls (text and/or
sketch tools) showing on the web page interface. Other than User Mode =
Zoom, etc., is there any way to have the other tools appear on the web page?
Could I be missing a parameter?

Also, would purchasing the full Volo View program make any difference? (I am
only interested in displaying DWFs and DWGs.)

Thanx,
John Daigle

1. The crash is probably a bug. Modifying the MIME type would make no
difference. If the MIME type were wrong, the file would not load
properly.

2. When the ActiveX control is being used instead of the EXE, Volo does
not have many capabilities available in its right muse button menu.
Purchasing Volo View would make no difference.

Thanx for the fast reply, Scott. I went ahead and did a couple of things.
First I actually installed VVE 2 on the web server machine itself. Then, I
set up the server MIME types as suggested.

For whatever reason, the viewer is happily now stable. I have tried it on a
laptop dialup and a T-1 desktop with success and no crashing. The problem
now is that I didn't realize how limited the "UI" is. Nothing in the docs
had even told me to right click to get a context menu! Unfortunately the
menu allows you only to use whatever initial default mode parameter you have
set in the ActiveX control plus the Zoom tool. It would be nice to be able
to markup with the Text Tool and Sketch Tool. Or, am I missing some
parameters that will add this functionality?

Your comments got me thinking. Am I missing a bet by using an ActiveX
control instead of creating a link that would call up the file in the .exe
and give the user full functionality? If so, how would this link be coded?

Also, are there websites with VVE links out there where I could see how
folks have implemented this?

Thanx,
John Daigle
