That user can use MacDwiff. http://www.macdwf.com. He'll need a connection
to the internet, but most people have one.

Have you tried Freewheel? http://freewheel.autodesk.com/dwf.aspx

Is there an osx compatible version of t2embed if we wish to develop a dwf rendering software for osx?

I do not believe so. We use Freewheel for OS X. That way the rendering is
done on a server that is running Windows. Even Austin Silver software took
this approach for McDwiff - http://macdwf.com.

Thats a real shame. If the user does not have an internet connection, they are pretty much stuck I assume.

I guess this is something people have to consider when using dwf in a mac compatible work place.

I will continue to see if a workaround does exist to the t2embed, but I have to aggree with you, I cannot see anything from first glance on the Internet.

Tailormade software went the route of substituting native fonts instead of
trying to render the Windows fonts on a non-Windows machine.

While no OS X version of t2embed exists, you could try font substitution.
This is what many applications do when moving between OS X, PC and Linux.
It is not a perfect solution, but it may work. Do a search for font
substitution table.

Thank you,

Yes and you are correct, not perfect, but will suffice.
I think it would of been better for Autodesk to use a more "open" standard, and not a vendor lock in technology. Oh Well 🙂

Cheers
