create dwf locks up PC

Good morning,
I am having problems with creating dwf files. i am on a Windows XP computer and I have both ADT3.3 and Building Systems 2004 installed. we have a client that is requesting dwf files and I have successfully created most of them, but 3 of the drawings are causing the computer to lock up (ctrl+Alt+Del gets me out of the App). I have been using the DWF ePlot (optimized for plotting).pc3 and I have tried to create the dwf files in both ADT3.3 and BS2004. I am perplexed because it works fine for most of the drawings. Anyone experience something like this? Usually it either works or it doesn't. Any assistance would be welcome. thanks - m

Have you tried using the DWF 6 ePlot pc3
file?

Yes. Same thing happens. Most of the dwfs are created without a problem, but those same three lock up the computer. I suspect it might be something in the drawings themselves, but I'm at a loss for what it might be. I've tried binding up the xrefs, saving the files as 2004 files, purging, and I'm stumped. I wonder if my dwf pc3 files are corrupted? But if that were the case, then none of the files would work...right? Hmmmmm.

Well I got it to work. Seems that patience is a virtue. Although the with majority of the files I was able to create the dwf within a few seconds, these last three trouble files took several minutes each (one took 1/2 hour) to create the file. Now that I know that the dwf .pc3 files are valid, I now need to figure out what is causing it to take so long to create the dwf files. Any ideas would be welcome, but for now I think my more immediate problem has gone away.

you could post the files in the customers files
area and we could take a look.

FWIW, I've run into this issue also. I never did determine what caused it to
happen. I'll ask my users in an effort to find one.

This has happend to me, and has been a continuous problem for us. We're
using BUZZSAW and the dwf format for our project of 1000+ sheets. Durring
this instance we had about a 60% 5 min and below dwf printouts. The other
40% have been 30 min +. I've posted something on this matter like 2 months
ago and never got a good fix from autodesk. I've tried auditing dwgs, r14 &
2002 file dwf printing, xcliping xrefs the works. No luck. I've also tried
all 3 .pc3 files that come standard with Acad. No luck. Please, someone find
a fix. This coming in on weekends to print this stuff is killing me

I'm having the same problem, just I'm not using buzzsaw - my dwg files are
located on a server in Chicago and I'm in Milwaukee, pending the T1 lines
I'll get the freezes, where I have to wait for a bit. Thats another
potential mess so I'm not going to get into that, be on the scope of this
group.
