Sketch Text does not display in DWF

    Greetings all,

I've created a simple sheet metal box in Inventor 2008. One surface of the box has openings (holes) for connectors. The completed part will have a coat of paint and silkscreened labels for the connector openings.

Applying the color to the surface of the panel to represent the paint was straight forward. I added the labels by creating a sketch on the panel surface and using the TEXT command within Sketch Mode to specify the labels.

The part appears as I wanted and expect within Inventor (the base material of the part, the paint color, the label text). However, when I publish the part to a DWF and then use ADR2008 to view the DWF, the sketched text is not displayed.

I looked into using the EMBOSS command on the text, but it does not accept a thickness of zero. The DECAL function does not seem appropriate since the text must be defined outside of Inventor and converted to an image (inconvenient) and the silkscreened text is not really a DECAL in any case.

Am I missing a step in either Inventor or in Design Review, that would allow the sketched text to be displayed in Design Review?

    Thanks,

    Les

Thanks for your attention. It would be useful if ADR could display sketch information in a DWF.

Since I posted my question I did speak with a tech support person at my Autodesk dealer, Ketiv, and we worked out a usable solution: Emboss the sketched text with an arbitrarily small thickness (I use .ooo1") and set the embossed text color (the silkscreen ink color) by setting the feature property of the embossed "face". Text created this way shows up as needed in both inventor and ADR via a DWF. The text can also be extracted in an .idw to create the silkscreen artwork.

Ok, here is what my local Inventor guy (Autodesk) offered:

"The text must be a feature in order for it to work & this is as designed.
He can emboss with a thickness of .000001", this will simulate a silkscreen,
he can even assign a color to the emboss feature for further clarity if
    desired."

Export your inventor part or assembly as a step 214 file with sketches selected in the options.

Import the file into AutoCAD 2011 (2010 does not have .step translator).

Export the newly created ACAD file to a .dwf.

Any 2D or 3D sketches will display in Design Review.
