DWFWriter

At one of my classes at Autodesk University, I received a blue CD which
contained a bunch of DWF related programs and files. I installed the
DWFWriter from this CD, but it does not work. When I try to create a DWF
from Notepad, it says "Invalid Handle", and when I try to create a DWF from
Power Point, it gives an error message. I have attached a picture of this
message. Can someone please tell me what I have to do to get DWF writer to
work? I already tried reinstalling it like the error message says, but that
did not help.

Thanks,

Did you reinstall?
Were you logged in as ADMIN when you did install it?
Turn off all running apps as well before installing.

Jon,

Are your other printers available and working? If not, you will need to
restart the print spooler service. Open a command shell and type "net start
spooler".

Yes, my other printers work fine. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Jon,

A few more questions, if you don't mind.
Did you try and print a test page?
What version of Windows are you running (including service pack)?

The test page fails. I am running Windows SP1 with all of the SP2 hotfixes
applied.

Presumably you mean XP. Is there anything reported in the system Event Log?
Start->Settings->Control Panel->Admin Tools->Event Viewer. Probably under
the System folder.

Did you previously have version 1 of the DWF Writer installed? If so, how
did you uninstall it?

Yes, I meant XP, sorry. Somebody from Autodesk pointed me to the latest
beta. I wasn't aware that this was a beta version. The latest version
installs without a problem.

Thanks for your help,

Jon

Jon,

Sorry about that. If you happen to notice that problem again, please let me
know.
