I believe that the absence of certain materials (when published to DWF using
Viz or Max) is due to publishing issues on the design application side.
This is a known issue and being looked at, afaik.

After recently seeing an example of a tire rim that 'faked' reflections by
using an environment map I have been pulling my hair out trying to get this
effect in my Viz exports. We have already overcome the shadows and realistic
lighting using texture baking but reflections are annoyingly absent and
transparency has to be a non raytrace material - does anyone out there have
the knowledge needed to allow me to export materials that retain the 'fake'
reflection ability??
