Questions for Subu

Subu:

A while back, I had discussed with you the idea providing the asterisk (*)
or similar notation to denote ALL for the "LayersOff" parameter, as you can
do in AutoCAD. This would provide significant load time savings for turning
all layers off at initial load and would provide greater precision in
targeting layer display. An example case would be one where a had a DWF
with 100 or more layers, but for a particular web page I only wanted to see
4 or 5 of those layers. By default, all layers are turned on at load, and
then one-by-one they are turned off based on the layers that are
individually specified in the "LayersOff" parameter.

In the example case, I submit that inital rendering time, and overall
session performance, could be greatly reduced if you specify all layers off
at load and just the 4 or 5 layers to turn on. You had said that is was a
good idea and that you'd see what could be done for this release. I
downloaded the latest version, but I can't see that this has been added.

So to the questions:

1) Is this feature included in this release?
2) If not, does it look promising to be added as a feature at some point?
If not, why not?

TIA,

:P

This did not make into this release.

This is definitely there in our list of enhancements to the API. There is a
good chance it will make it to the next release. However, I cannot guarantee
you as to the timeframe for when this will actually come out in the product.
