mud painted textures auto fill onto all new geometry in maya

Hi I painted some textures onto let below mudbox mesh... when I sent it to maya and added some new geometry (on the outside) the painted texture auto applies to it. Can I take this off in mudbox or do I  need to go back into Maya. How I do avoid this in the future (using paint layers properly)?

creating clean uvs and dont add new geometry later on...

and if you have to just bake everything over to the new mesh...

 yes baking has to do with lighting... its baking all shader data to an other mesh...

and there is also a way to bake only the diffuse map...

in maya --> transfer maps

in mudbox --> transfer paint layer
