Painting problem in Mudbox 2012 on Mac

Hello all! Just signed up. I've been a long time Maya user and I have a potential project coming up that I think Mudbox would be great for. So I'm currently running a 30 day trial of 2012 on a Mac and having an issue when I go to paint. Everything's fine with sculpting (I'm really liking it!) but as soon as I go to ad a paint layer, the entire model turns dark and no paint shows up. If I switch over to the UV view, all the paint is there, so it's some sort of display issue. I'm primarily running it on a MacBook Pro (10.6.6), but I also tried it on a MacPro (Dual Quad Core, 10.6.4)) and get the exact same result.
I've attached 3 photos showing what I'm seeing. Thanks for any help ASAP, as my 30 days and the possible start of the project will be coming up soon. I appreciate it very much!

-Tim

i assume a graphics card or driver problem...

That's why I tried it on two different machines (with two different cards) and still came up with the same result. I figured the display issue is something in Mudbox's settings somewhere.
