Re: what are the new NNTP settings to get my newsreader to work here?

Heh. Yeah, when I ask questions now, it's through a privately hosted nntp channel. Shhhhhh.

I can understand the hassle of supporting more means of output, but, it doesn't mean I'm happy about it.

Ahh, NNTP.  Those were the days.  Nowadays I force myself to stay current on a handful of A-desk forums just to keep up-to-date.  But as it's a PITA those numbers are ever dwindling.

Like many others I rarely participate here at all since NNTP was dropped.  Sounds like all I'm missing out on is a daily flood of spam.  NNTP was a far greater platform due to its simplicity.   Just to come here and post this I tried several times before the page would load.  I ended up killing the browser window and starting over because this forum became unresponsive.  To get back to just the forums.autodesk.com page took 40 seconds.

Improved?  Not even close.

Clicking "post" aftering composing that last reply I went to the bathroom.... washed my hands and came back to my desk.  The message hand't appeared yet (60 to 90 seconds).  About 25 seconds after a refresh (F5) it appeared.

This forum is sooo slow, it's nearly unusable.  I guess that doesn't really bother me since I've veirtually no reason to be here.

Good luck, ya'll.  (Wonder how long it will take for this post to appear)

are you saying these posts have a laxative effect?

Something is up with the speed, I expect that will be fixed soon.

I just wish Autodesk would make a "compact" version.

ANYTHING but this expanse of space.

Kinda funny that I was just browsing the forums using the mobile version on a Android phone and marveling how efficient AND FAST the mobile version is compared to the full version.   Compact, Black Text (easy to read), and virtually no wasted space.  I hope when the mobile version gets updated, it receives minor tweaks, not a complete redesign.

I agree, seems the page on my galaxy 10.1 tablet has half the white space.

The headers still take 2 lines, then a blank one.

It needs to be 1 line per header in a tree view, expandable so I can see proper reply order.

I can't say I have any problem with 2-line headers... in fact I can't think of a single forum I've visited that uses less.

I don't even care about mobile viewing, I need PC based to be decent.

I say bring back BBS or the Compuserve Fors whe we are at it: way nicer than the old newsgroups :smileyhappy:

The new redesign blows: looks pretty but not much else. Thank goodness for the mobile app version of the site, they haven't messed with it yet.
