Re: User Engagement Ideas?

Okay I got to page 9. I can go further.

I don't have time to find the correct post I want to reply to in these 12 pages so far. Someone mentioned the unsolved or un-replied to messages. Perhaps these just need to be grouped together and pinned to the top of each NG with a big bold title of 'Unsolved'. Let the competition begin or truth be told if the app doesn't do what it is suppose to do.

I think I may have made a point with one of the NNTP issues. Open this up in the web browser, default options and it is pretty tough to see who I replied to. It would be nice if they tagged below the post I replied to.

I haven't been active on the boards as long as some others here, but I would guess that this thread is approaching a record for the number of responses and the speed of it's growth.  Jillian - I know that you started this thread as personal research, but I hope that others at Autodesk Support are paying attention.

Congratulations - you've created this monster, now you have to figure out what to do with it.  No pressure of course... :smileywink:

PS: What precisely is a Community and Social Media Specialist anyways?

I too use Google Search for whatever AutoCAD fix I need: it's quicker, finds the answers within the first page (rarely do I need to hit the second page), and 90% of the time the answer is right here in these forums.

Use the exact same search sentence or words here and you could easily kill an hour wading through pointless links.

Yes a properly threaded view is mandatory, IMO.  Your recent string of posts are a prime example of it being to difficult to follow which post you are replying to (not picking on you, just saying...)

However, this has been clear since day one and it hasn't happened yet so I'm not exactly hopeful.

I believe that was John's point of his string of postings.

Search for Help was much better prior to the rollout of the new Forum.

Funny that I commented on that in 2009 and received no response. Hmm...

My biggest issue so far has been the inclusion of forum posts as part of the Autodesk Knowlege Base.  I don't know how much control you have over the greater Autodesk.com website, but when I perform a search in the top right hand box, I want to search Autodesk and not the forums.  I at least want the option not to include forum posts so that I can weed out all the questions and only get answers.  I don't know how many times I have searched for an actual Autodesk KB article and my search results have all been forums.autodesk.com results.  When I want to point a user to an official answer, this becomes difficult to do.

....

That "dividing line" between "official answer from Autodesk" and "answers by forum users" has vanished. Ever day the contributions from forums and blogs are playing a more important role, and Autodesk is recognizing that by using that information to enrich the help of Wikihelp. Nothing wrong with that. Why do you still want to have those two sources separated?

It would be great to be able to filter a search: when I need a TS document from the KB search, I don't want to also go through the 15000 post listings from users looking for the same thing (OK, so 15000 is over the top, but you get my drift).

Initially, I thought that the idea with the Solutions button was for that, to separate some posts from the rest, and eventually incorporate the solutions into the official help. But apparently, it is not being used for that, is it?

Too early for the Solutions to be winding thru the matrix perhaps?

Need to tweak the algorithm to have them show up?

If it is a verified solution from Autodesk it should be in Autodesk Exchange.
