I have noticed a curious situation just recently. I have the Customization Discussion Group as a "Favorite" in Internet Explorer 8 on my Windows XP Pro computer at work, and as a "Pinned" item on the Start page, invoking the latest Internet Explorer [whatever that is] on my Windows 8 computer at home that's only a few weeks old, and this happens in both situations, so I'm wondering whether others have the same problem.
When I pick the first time on the item for the Customization forum on either computer, what comes up is just the top-level forums.autodesk.com page, with its list of all the different products and forums one can choose from. Both items' properties do include the full path to the Customization forum, but most of that somehow gets stripped off on first pick. But then, if I pick on the same item again, it does go "all the way" into the Customization forum. That is proof that the items do know the full path, so why it's not being applied fully the first time I pick on them is the mystery.
If I am signed in, I can navigate around to other websites, but as long as I don't get out of IE, when I pick on that item again, it successfully goes directly back into the Customization forum, without my needing to pick on it twice, and I remain signed in. [EDIT: I just tried signing out, but staying in IE, navigating to some other website, and then picking on the item again, and it went directly back into the Customization forum on one pick. So it seems to be a problem only on the first attempt to get in during a given internet session, and apparently is not affected by whether or not I'm signed in.]
Also, I have not changed the properties of either item [what they link to], and they both used to take me directly into the Customization forum on the first pick.
Any ideas why this might be happening, or what I can do to get back to one-pick access? Thank you,
When I pick the first time on the item for the Customization forum ..., what comes up is just the top-level forums.autodesk.com page.... But then, if I pick on the same item again, it does go "all the way" into the Customization forum. ....
[As of yesterday, this problem seems to have gone away -- it now goes directly into the right forum for me on the first pick. Thanks to whoever fixed that, or to the web gods if it somehow corrected itself.]
