Emoticons in Coding

A user posted a bit of Code to help solve an issue with another who was asking how to use the routine in this thread. What is interesting is that when the Code is shown in the Reply window using the Quote feature the emoticon does not appear:

When the Quoted text is Posted to the Forum the emoticon is now visible:

Why does the Reply window behave differently than the Forum thread when posted?

Charles,

 

Had you had continued and posted with the quote feature it would have had the smiley in the thread also.

Had the user posted using the Insert code button in the rich test editor bar instead of posting it directly into the thread as in the example below shows there would be no emoticons in the original or when using quote back.

 

Personally due to the volume of threads I read I run with them turned off as originally suggested in the thread you referenced
