Here is the default

Here is Arial.  Why is it better?  (Subject doesn't say it all.)

Personally, I think the biggest improvement would be black text, rather than grey.

I don't really have a preference about the font, but I certainly do prefer black text and I'm manually formatting it black (when I remember).

.... I also stole CADastrophe's grey background quote macro. :smileywink:

Arial is just a more consistently weighted font.. All letters have the same "darkness" and consistent like quality for lack of better nerdy works..

Here is arial

and here is the goofy FrutigerNextW04-Medium font...

Notice how the "W" and a few other letters look unaliased/darker than other fonts..

That just draws my eyes to certain letters and IMO makes it harder to read..

Yes, it's easier to read, definitly.

But I think you'll agree that within the posts, black text rather than grey has an equal or greater effect on readability than the font.

IOW, the colour choice was even worse than the font.

Ultimately, I think there should be a "<default setting>" font that set as the current style in a new message and can be defined in User Settings. That way, someone can have it set to Arial and he'll see all of the "<default setting>" font as such, whereas Troma could opt to have it set to say, Wingdings, and he sees that same text in his specified, preferred font.

I doubt that this is possible, but just sayin'...
