" C U I " Searching for complete instructions on customizing 2010 CUI !

Hi All,

I am an old MNU / MNS buff and had that method down pat. Recently, I have decided to embrace the new CUI method to customize Acad for my group. The Acad Help file is useful, however it does not seem to tie all the info together into a solid reference. Little and/or important details seem hard to find or are missing, such as the complete relationship between CUI and WorkSpaces.

Does anyone have a clue where I might locate a good and complete reference for working in the 2010 CUI ?

Feel free to flood me with good info.

Thanks folks,

Dave

If you don't mind being flooded with info, the best place is probably to
search "cui" in this forum. The hardest part will be forgetting
everything you know about MNU/MNS.

As for the Workspace - it lives in the CUI, and controls the visibility
and placement of elements defined in the CUI.

An "oldie but a goodie" is enough to get you started:

Hi everyone,
I've just had a similar experience as our entire office has moved from using pre CUI versions of AutoCAD to the latest versions and having to implement our tried and trusted extensively customised .mnu files to operate under the CUI. However I used the migration tool which imported all my existing settings as well as converting the .mnu to a .cuix. Put simply, I copied my existing .mnu as well as a renamed .dll file containing the menu icons to the new AutoCAD support directory, i then added the .mnu as a partial menu, which recompiled it into a cuix, adding the old icons contained in the .dll file. I am now very happy with the result: 99% of the old (ACLT2002) menu which we are familiar with works just as it did before. Just be careful and save your workspace when you are happy with menu placement and toolbar locations, prefereably by typing workspace on the command line. I also had trouble with pulldown menu's disappearing when there was two lines of them with duplicate pulldowns from the additional menu loaded, I removed the redundant ones (file, view, etc) from the old menu in the WORKSPACE section of the CUI, and now everything works fine. If you have any more questions, please feel feel to ask them here and i'll try and elaborate some more.
