plot using colour or line weights?

Just wanted to obtain opinions from others concerning the use of plotting by colour vs using line weights.

Plot by colour is the traditional method, but line weights have been in acad for a while now. Has everyone changed to use line weights, or is everyone still using colour?

We plot by colour, and colour by layer.
Except for dimension text which is a different colour to the dimension layer, but still plots by colour.

By line weights, do you mean layer line weights, or object line weights?

I use a combination of both, depending on the client. I tend to favor
the Lineweight method. It is very straight forward, and provides on
screen representation of line intensity. Nice in some cases.

I prefer line weights, no ctb, it would be universal plotting
,every firm has its own color table its insanity,

the other cadd package plots by weight

line weights are good

I use lineweights. But I use them by setting the Lineweight in the CTB to
Use Object Lineweight. I may look into STB's when we switch to Civil 3D.

Been discussed on numerous occasions....

are more in the General groups and the Printing & Plotting group.

I also think setting lineweights bylayer is the most straightforward option.
I select ctb in the options file and leave everything set to plot object
lineweight. My page setups usually use "none" as the ctb file - although
some still have acad.ctb specified. I can use the standard monochrome.ctb
to get B&W plots, although most plots here are in color.

I've looked at stb's briefly and I don't see much to gain by using them over
the lineweight bylayer method. Someone at AU told me that by doing it my
way I am halfway to using stb's, but I wasn't sure what they meant.....I
have read through the AU literature for a class called "plotting with
style" - which is supposed to advocate stb's, IIRC - and I fail to see a
convincing argument to change.
