anybody know of a good but simple hvac drafting software? something similar to softdesk 8 but not as complicated as building systems?????

MagiCAD HPV from http://www.progman.fi/
No API to talk about but easy to use and functional with calculation
support.

i went to the magicad site but its all in german or some other foreign language

Click on the Union Flag (read: British Flag) in the top right hand corner
and you will get the site in English.

Is MaigCad a 3D piping package? or just 2d line art?

It's 2D/3D. You can work almost like it's only 2D and you can work fully in
3D. We engineer all our disciplines fully in 3D.
