Why use vault?

Any AutoCAD subscribers that have tried out vault?
I've been reading about vault and still don't get what it can do for me.
I got a post in Autodesk.vault and am not getting much response.
My company is a multi discipline AEC.
What does vault give me or should I stick with the regular windows
file system?

Its hard to say if you should use Vault, since I don't know your needs. But
I'll explain a little about document management systems. There's basically
two reasons. Drawing security, and user convenience. For security, there are
many things that could cause you to loose data. Accidental deletion,
renaming, etc. Related to that, is maintaining all versions of drawing,
especially if it is made up of many separate files, as is Inventor drawings.
ADT relies on the Project Manager as for this task. I don't know of any
document management systems that have integrated the PM. So Vault would be
more of a storage tool to you. As for convenience, dms's help the user
organize and find files and offer other extensions, such as workflow (which
Vault does not). HTH
