    Transfering Profiles

I'm getting a new computer and I've done a lot of customizing.
I'm trying to avoid spending what could be a couple of hours setting Acad up
    again.
I've exported my profile and it is saved as a .ARG file. Then I guess i will
import that file when I get my
new computer. I've also saved my .PGP file.
Am I on the right track? Any help would be great.

    Thanks,

    Howard hi,

I think you can transfer several files from the old computer to the new one:
Templates, Lisps, STB/CTB and so on.

But moving profile information with a ARG file is dangerous in my view.
Some of the information is hardware related and may ruin your new AutoCAD
    setup.

I do not want to create problems. The version of Acad is not changing. I'm
    just getting a better computer.
do you have any suggestions on how to transfer my custome stuff.
    Thanks

Nothing in your ARG profile is hardware related except for file paths. If you
only have a single C:\ drive on both systems you are 99.999% fine.

I suggets keeping all custom stuff on a shared network drive under your Windows
user name. Add that path (or paths) to your Options > Files paths as required.

There are other more advanced techniques for making yourself completely
portable, but the above will probably be all you need.
