Johnny -
Information on newsgroup message base for those using OE5.
A restart of the newsgroup server failed. The message base did
not completely reinstall, losing messages from 10/4 - 10/24th.
You will have to reset your newsgroup reader to see the new
messages since the 24th.
Below are messages from users who have reconfigured their
software to see new messages but not download everything again
that exists on the individual newsgroup:
***
Outlook Express - various messages from users on how to reload
On Outlook Express, When selecting discussion.autodesk.com - be
under Tools / Options / Read. Get XX headers at a time / Apply /
OK. Right click on the group the select Properties> Local
File>Reset.
(in different words: If you are using MS Outlook Express then you
need to Tools>Options>Maintenance Tab>Clean Up Now Button>Reset
Button. This will wipe out the headers and message bodies
otherwise you will continue to get no new messages to download)
In OE5 all you need to do is right-click on the group then select
Properties
then the Local File tab and select the Reset option.
If he wants to Unsubscribe / Suscribe - It is under Tools /
Newsgroups. If he wants to clear his cache it is under Tools /
Options / General. If he wants to set the message count for
downloading a specific smaller # of messages at a time, he has to
select discussion.autodesk.com (as these settings are by server)
Tools / Options / Read
Get XX headers at a time / Apply / OK.
